Where I'm From-Action Project


Hello, I am Lyd, and this is my blog for GCE lab school, which stands for Global Citizenship Experience.The school is a non-profit organization that's mission is to teach kids by giving them opportunities to interact with the real world and become a global citizen. For the orientation week, before school officially started, we studied the question: "Where are you from?", and were assigned an action project to convey where we were from as individuals and the properties associated with it. I choose to express where I am from with a slideshow of photographs and videos detailing the textures and senses that I associate with where I'm from. The clown image is from my slideshow, and it resembles a detail that reminds me of my home.

Algebra Action Project-Inverse Property of Addition

For our freshman algebra class, we are working on an Action Project where we chose one of the properties of algebra. I chose the Inverse Property of Addition, which means that any number added to its opposite will equal zero. A negative version of the same number is the opposite of the positive version, and vice versa. For example, 5 + -5= 0 . Properties are rules/characteristics of numbers and math that help us understand concepts in math. For the artistic aspect of the Action Project, I chose to do simple images representing examples of the Inverse Property of Addition. I have two versions of a similar image that both represent an example of my property. In addition, I found another way to convey the definition of my property, and all of my work is shown here. Water and Weather - Berlin

For our water class we talked about the changing climate and how it impacts the world, and how sea levels are rising due to this. We were given an Action Project and our goal was to create a slideshow highlighting a country, while focusing on the effects of climate change. I randomly chose Berlin, and studied its temperature as well as how it could be affected by climate change. Berlin is the capital of Germany and is the second most populated city.
